she writes: "We know the Father Palm tape recorded testimonies concerning Marie Rose Ferron, authentic recordings of people who had known and visited Little Rose. Then in January 1964, Archbishop Vagnozzi addressed and official order to his Provincial stating that a "decree" had reached them, pronounced by Bishop McVinney, bishop of Providence. Declaring that "after a thorough examination, there was no hope possible for the cause of Little Rose to be introduced in Rome".

And yet, Dom Anselmo Trappi Cesarini,O.S.B., Basilica of St. Paul, Rome to whose judgement all material and testimonies concerning Marie Rose Ferron were submitted, wrote on January 11, 1949 "I have examined all the materials and testimonies and had my lawyer examine all the publications as well as biography by Father Boyer relating to the life of Marie Rose Ferron. There is material there, more than sufficient for the cause. All that is missing is the approbation of the Bishop of Providence".

Dr. Gendron told us that Little Rose's left hand was shrunk to half it's size. I was told why by her two sisters, Flora and Florema Ferron Giguere, in our stone house in Dunham, Que. Around 1966. Mrs. Giguere, meek and devoted wife and mother, had helped her husband to organize a laundry business in Fall River. When he died, by will, he left all his possessions to his own family. Florema, a widow with several children, was so worried and affected that she had a cerebral hemorrhage. Rose never would obtain much for her family-that was a well known fact. Florema would come to Woonsocket every week and would beg Rose to intercede in her favor. She asked to regain the use of her arm in order to feed her children. One day, Rose said to her: "Keep your courage. You shall see a change this very week". On Thursday her paralyzed hand was healed completely. The next Sunday, she returned full of joy and gratitude to tell Rose. She learned that Little Roses's left hand was paralyzed since Thursday. She cried bitterly refusing to accept such a sacrifice. But Rose insisted saying that she is an invalid and did not need her hand, while her sister needed hers for her children. At that moment in her life, in 1966, Mrs' Giguere worked in a large dry goods store in Fall river, MA. In the repair department for 36yrs, doing very delicate work in the section of bridal gowns.

Rose enters the Franciscan Third Order and St. Clare is invited.

Cora often talked to Rose about the Franciscan Third Order founded by St. Francis of Assisi and his sister St. Clare who died on August 12, 1253, thanking God for having created her. She would tell Rose how she had lost all attraction for the world as she contemplated the utter destitution of a Franciscan Order. Rose could understand so well having herself gone through several degrees of detachment. She listened to her with visible interest, manifesting her desire to enroll in the Third Order. She was received as a novice, May 28. 1929, and it is before Reverend Father Marie-Antoine Roy, O.F.M., Later bishop of Edmunston, New Brunswick, that she pronounced her vows in the Third Order. Cora tells us : "Rose had a holy and peaceful joy; she was really of a Franciscan nature. She had a lively and playful attitude, the prerogative of pure and young hearts. Pain had not embittered her even though she had suffered martyrdom for already more than 10 years. But people were far from suspecting that, when they saw her so cheerful, beaming, even radiant."

Father Gauthier taught Rose her Catechism and on the next day while questioning her, he noticed she knew more about it than he did. When Father was still a very young priest, it was found that Father Gauthier had cancer of the stomach and he had to travel to Boston for treatments. At that time he was told that he would die in five years.

Rose Assumes the Cancer of Father Gauthier

While visiting Rose, she told him:"Do not worry anymore Father Gauthier; you have no cancer-you are in good health." And thereafter, he felt his strength coming back and his health improving. Returning for a check up, the specialists were most puzzled upon realizing that he had no trace of cancer. Father Gauthier continued to visit Rose in Woonsocket every week. But it is only on the day of her death he realized she had taken his cancer upon herself.

One day, while going to the bank, Father Gauthier had a pressing desire to see Rose and it was not the usual day of visit for him. He could not do away with the impulsive force urging him to go to Woonsocket. He had 60-70 miles of traveling to cover and he drove to Providence st, where Rose lived. Upon arriving, Rose was suffering intensely and vomiting coffee grounds, a classical symptom of stomach cancer. He tells Mr. Sheehan that all he could say was; "You little thief! You little thief!" When he realized during those long years, she had suffered with his cancer of the stomach. That would also explain all the difficulties to retain food and beverages for approximately 10 years, while keeping the sting of the hunger and thirst.
