Marie Rose Ferron's Rosary
What a birthday gift! My mom sent me a Rosary that I've been wanting for many years but until now, didn't really know it's true origin until our recent conversation.
This was Rose's personal rosary she used many times for years, and after she passed it went to her mother, who gave it to my grandmother Anglina Ferron and when my grandmother past, it went to my mother Theresa (Ferron) Hebert and now to me. This rosary along with the many others had been blessed by her Jesus while in exctasy and even has a more special meaning to me. This has to be the best birthday present in my whole life!! Pictured below is a comparison of her rosary and a regular rosary. The whole rosary is about 30" long.

I'm so excited over what's happened with this special rosary I can't go on without mentioning this.
Now...anyone that knows me realizes that I'm not easily convinced on things in general just because I want to believe. I'm more of a "disprove" rather than accept things. When I received this rosary I was excited, and kissed it also close enough to smell it and it had no fragrance at all! Just a typical rosary. I hung it over a picture of Jesus on our bedroom wall. After the third day of walking by and kissing the cross, I decided to take the rosary and say it. The second decade, I started smelling a perfume from the rosary???????????? I thought this strange but beautiful. I brought it over to Denise (my wife), and she also smelled it!!!! I asked if she had held it and maybe this perfume was hers and she said she hadn't touched it.
I didn't say it the following day, but smelled it and the perfume was gone and only a matalic smell was there????? So I said the rosary again, and the fragrance returned once again!!! It's almost as if Rose is telling me to pray the rosary more often. I called my mom to see if she ever experienced this and she said no. Now I am totally in awe as to why this is happening only to me. Once again...I'm not the kind of guy to imagine things, nor am I so easily blind sided with faith and passion to accept things without testing and trying to disapprove.
This morning being Sunday...I decided to say the rosary again. Once again the rosary had no fragrance at all. I also put vics in my nose due to a cold, and I probably wouldn't smell anything anyhow. Wrong....once completed, her fragrance was so strong that I could even smell it through the vics in my nostril. Unbeleievable how special this rosary has become to me.

An anniversary mass was held at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs by the family and it's the original mass that use to be held at Holy family, but changed a few years back due to negative reactions with the paster of Rose's family parish. So the family decided to hold the Mass at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs and it was a beautiful mass as always. This mass was special due to Rose's 75th Anniversary and almost all of her family were present, including my mother Theresa (Ferron) Hebert and her godchild Collette Fortin in green to the right of my mom.

The Mass was at 10:30 and the alter was adorned with flowers, and the priest there gave a wonderfull and respectful talk on this Holy woman, my 3rd cousin. Many of the family met after church on the church steps and it was nice to see them all gather and chat of past memories. Many new generations in the group and it was good to see such a strong following.

I haven't had much opportunity in updating this page, as I've been buried into investigating all the going on's involving Marie Rose Ferron's life, and have uncovered to much to post. I never imagined I'd be so involved, and never imagined the web of deceit that surrounded her story that is so shocking! I'm determined to seek the truth, and set the record right once and for all. The deliberate attempts to keeping this quiet, scandals, lies, evidence tampering, and crimes against God and the 10 commandments he gave us to follow, were deliberately violated and continue to be by unactionable leaders is astounding, even today! Almost on a daily basis, I seem to uncover more truths, and that there are individuals that are deliberately trying to destroy her legacy, and I'm determined more than ever to prove the interference preventing her cause to go forward, as it should have many years ago!
The purpose of this link is what I should have done years ago, and that is to inform and cause interest for my cousin Marie Rose Ferron also very well known as "Little Rose".
She is a famous Stigmata from Woonsocket R.I., and is my 3rd cousin through my great Grandfather being brother to little Rose's father. Without trying to confuse you, my Grandfather was 1st cousin to Rose, my mother (Theresa M. Hebert) second cousin and myself 3rd cousin.
I will add to this section often, so you become more familiar with who she is, works and cures through her intercession with Jesus and the Sacred Heart, and her devotion to Him, since a very young age. I will also add from time to time, testimony of others, those who received favors and my own experience through her.
There has also been several books written about her life, and will post where you might find them for your own interest. I want to state right here and now..........I have absolutely no connections to any other site, organizations, nor declare this site as "official". I am simply making her known in repayment for what she has done for me, and hope others can benefit also through following her life and works through testimony of others. There is a huge growing movement in her name and as you become familiar with her life, you may also become part of this movement.
I found these 2 interesting biographies of Little Rose and pasted them here for you.
BIOGRAPHY of "LITTLE ROSE" FERRON,
The Stigmatized Ecstaic of Woonsocket, R.I.
By: Fr. O. A. Boyer S.T.L. (RIP)
Mary Rose Ferron, known as little Rose, was born on the 24th of May 1902, at St-Germain de Grantham, Que. Her parents came to Fall River, Mass., in 1905. Rose became ecstatic about that time and remained so until her death. The Phenomenon of Weight accompanied her ecstasies. During one of them on the 13th of April, 1929, in the presence of five witnesses, Rose asked Our Lord if her sufferings were to last very long and repeated the answer saying- Seven Years. She then counted on her fingers how old she would be and stopped at thirty-three. Rose was then 26 and she died at the age of 33.
In 1925, Rose arrived in Woonsocket, R.I., when the trouble broke out between Bishop Hickey and the Sentinellists. At the end of 1926, the stigmata of the flagellation appeared; during Lent of 1927 those of the hands and feet; in November, 1927, the reception of Holy Communion without deglutition was noticed; in January 1928, the stigmata of the thorns made their appearance; during Lent of 1929, that of the heart; in the month of August 1929, her eyes shed tears of blood. From that time on, each Friday, she represented the Holy Face. Towards the end of 1929 the crown of thorns was fully developed. In 1930 during July, the month of the Precious Blood, the Phenomenon of the Holy Face was repeated every day. The 1st of August 1930, the stigmata disappeared, but the pains were felt with more intensity; still on the days she suffered the most, some of her former stigmata became purple and oozed a kind of serum. When she died, on the 11th of May, 1939, we still could see one of the branches of the crown and the thorn stigmata.
For more explanation, read her life, "She Wears a Crown of Thorns".
Ecstasy and stigmata are nothing but charisms and in themselves do not sanctify. What sanctified Little Rose was her virtuous life; she loved God so intensely that she communicated her Charity when she spoke. During life she suffered martyrdom, with patience and joy for the good of the Church; her soul was adorned with Christian virtues and she practiced them with the heroism of a true Victim. While she lived, people called on her and asked her prayers; many favors were thus obtained. Since her death, they still call on her and the favors continue to come; meanwhile those who invoke her are increasing in number and some are reporting wonderful cures.
Rev.O.A.Boyer, S.T.L. was a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture, Graduate of the Apostolic Mission House, Washington, D.C. and was a Priest of the Diocese of Ogdensburg, N.Y. He wrote the book" SHE WEARS A CROWN OF THORNS" about Marie Rose Ferron Known as The Stigmatized Ecstatic of Woonsocket, R.I.
One of the reasons he wrote this book was to preserve and document the workings of God's grace in the life of Rose and the phenomena of her mystical life. Another reason for the book Fr. Boyer said was, "To satisfy the demands of her friends who were edified by her virtues and are now longing to see them brought back to life again". For those of you who do not know Rose you will find great consolation in reading her life.
Fr. Boyer with his intimate knowledge of Mystics explains what a mystic is and how according to Our Lord there are three ways of reaching Him, each more perfect than the other, namely:
1.The way of the servant, who observes the commandments.
2.The way of the disciple, who follows Christ.
3. The more perfect way of the Mystic who unites himself to the Divinity.
Fr. Boyer explains that all three stages lead us to heaven, but in as far as they lead us to Christian perfection, they are stages. For the first leads to Asceticism and Asceticism leads to Mysticism! One becomes a stepping stone to the rest.
In reading this book you are able to crawl into the mind of Fr. Boyer to see how he will lead you to better understand the life we have been called to and at the same time he teaches us how to judge the mystic. Fr. Boyer documented many cures, healings, graces and conversions people have received through the intersession of Little Rose. Many of which he includes in his book.
This book is the first book he ever wrote and asks us not to question his style of writing but to look into the virtuous life of Marie Rose Ferron. By writing this book Fr. Boyer wanted to let the world become aware of this beautiful soul who suffered much in union with her love for Jesus.
Marie Rose Ferron was born to devout Catholic parents on May 24, 1902, in the countryside near Quebec. Rose's mother was seized by labor pains as she toiled the fields, and sought refuge in a nearby dwelling and like her Jesus, Rose was born in a stable. Although she never discussed it openly, Mrs. Ferron had dedicated each of her 15 children to the Mysteries of the Rosary. As the tenth child, Marie Rose honored the Crucifixion. These extraordinary circumstances surrounding Rose's birth seemed to foreshadow her destiny as a victim soul
Rose's mystical life began at the age of four, when she experienced a vision of the Child Jesus carrying a cross. His sorrowful expression touched her deeply, and the image remained seared in her memory. One might consider it uncommon for such a young child to have mystical experiences, but history proves otherwise. Saint Therese of the Child Jesus wrote: "The good God blessed me by opening my intelligence at a very early age." And so it was with Rose.
In childhood, Rose communed with Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Gerard Magella and St. Anthony of Padua. Profoundly humble, she always referred to these ecstasies as "dreams" and was reluctant to discuss them. "To suffer in silence! was her motto, and vanity was her greatest fear. A true victim like her Jesus, Rose endured the slanderous remarks of those who considered her a fraud, and never defended herself.
At the age of seven, Rose had already begun to plead on behalf of souls. Jesus taught her the following prayer, which she recited every day for the rest of her life. This same prayer, the "Supplication for Sinners," was discovered by the Sisters of the Precious Blood in Montreal, who found it quite mysteriously one morning, lying on a table in the convent parlor:
"Oh Lord Jesus, when I reflect upon the words which Thou hast uttered: 'Many are called, but few are chosen,' I fear and tremble for those I love, and I beg Thee to look upon them with mercy; and behold, with an infinite tenderness, Thou dost place their salvation in my hands, for everything is assured to him who knows how to suffer with Thee and for Thee. "My heart bleeds under the weight of affliction, but my will remains united to Thine, and I cry out to Thee: 'Lord, it is for them that I want to suffer...I wish to mingle my tears with Thy Precious Blood for the salvation of those I love! Thou wilt not turn a deaf ear to my sorrowful cry...And Thou will save them."
Though Rose bore the wounds of the stigmata, this mystical quality, in and of itself, is not absolute proof of sanctity. Rather, the true evidence of Rose's saintliness is to be found in the virtues she embodied.
Those who knew Rose marveled at her childlike simplicity and profound humility. She was at all times charming and sincere. Despite suffering intensely for her Jesus, Rose never sacrificed her radiant smile. Throughout her life, she practiced the virtues of charity, patience, hope and trust, and never abandoned her faith in God and His Divine Will.
For Rose, submission to the will of Jesus and saving souls were all that mattered. "I will pray hard and my suffering will always be for souls," she vowed to a close friend. I give myself to our dear Jesus to do with me Just as He pleases... I must ask you to pray for a very important intention. It is for souls, and at any price I must have these. They are so dear to God. Pray, pray, pray!"
In 1923, Our Lord appeared to Sr. Josefa Menendez of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and revealed the overwhelming importance of victim souls: "I will shower My mercies on the world to wipe out its ingratitude. To make reparation for its crimes, I will choose victims who will obtain pardon..for there are in the world many whose desire is to please Me. And there are, moreover, generous souls who will sacrifice everything they possess that I may use them according to My Will."
As a victim soul, Rose suffered to make reparation for the sins of others. Through her suffering she attained healing-physical, mental and spiritual-for those in need, regardless of their station in life. Despite the pain, alienation, and chastisement she endured, Rose embraced her mission joyfully, without an ounce of bitterness. In her "spiritual recipe" she expressed her philosophy of life, and her ability to endure the afflictions of others: "Grind up all your sufferings in the mill of patience and silence; mix them with the balsam of the Passion of the Savior; make them into a small pill and swallow it with faith and love and the fire of Charity will digest it."
On numerous occasions, Rose endured the pains of childbirth of her sisters and many women she never knew. As one of her sisters was giving birth, she experienced great distress, and cried out to Rose for help. At that moment, Rose appeared in the delivery room and her sister's pain instantly vanished. At home in Woonsocket, confined to her bed, Rose suffered the anguish of labor in silence, with a glad heart. During her life, Rose also bore the suffering of those afflicted with cancer, heart disease, blindness, asthma, paralysis, and countless other maladies.
Rose clearly understood the nature of spiritual suffering, and cherished her mission of winning souls for Christ. On one occasion, a man from Michigan, whom Rose had never met, accompanied his friend to her bedside. As he observed this young woman, imprisoned in her bed and wracked with pain, he began to weep. Rose gazed up at him and admonished: "Don't cry for me; you're sicker than I am. You've been away from Jesus for thirty five years." How could she be aware of this intimate detail of his life? Deeply impressed, he went to confession immediately afterward and began to attend daily Mass. With Rose's intercession, he was reconciled to Jesus and the Church, and died a peaceful Christian death many years later.
Rose had a special love for children, and extended her miraculous powers of healing to them as well. In one instance, a mother had been praying to Marie Rose to heal her daughter's heart ailment. One day, the little girl opened the door of the family car parked in the driveway. The car lurched toward the street, pinning the frightened child underneath. Trapped under the front wheels, she began to turn blue and exclaimed that all was dark. She couldn't see! Her frantic parents rushed their daughter to the emergency room, where the attending physician examined her. He couldn't believe his eyes. Despite the serious nature of the accident, and the tire marks across her chest, the little girl suffered no apparent injuries.
Throughout her life, Rose professed a deep affection for priests, whom she referred to as "other Christs." On one occasion, a pastor asked his friend to appeal to Rose on his behalf. "Ask her prayers for two or three persons of this parish. They are hard cases," he entreated. The friend called Rose and relayed the pastor's request. On his way to say Mass a few days later, the priest was startled to find the very parishioners Rose had prayed for awaiting his arrival on the church steps.
These are but a few of the countless testimonies of Rose's healing intercession. After a lifetime of suffering for souls, she died on May 11,1936, with a beatific smile on her lips. Her death came as no surprise, since Rose herself foretold it at age 26. "How long will I have to live away from you? she asked Our Lord. "Seven years," He answered. And so Rose died, like her Jesus, at the age of 33.
Marie Rose Ferron lies buried in the Precious Blood Cemetery in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. A cross crowned with thorns is etched on her gravestone; beneath it rests a dove with outstretched wings, surrounded by sprays of roses. On the white marble headstone, a simple epitaph inscribed in French befits the women it memorializes
MARIE ROSE FERRON
STIGMATISEE
NEE 24 MARIE ROSE FERRON
DEC. 11 MAI 1936
A L'AGE DE 33 ANS
From her place in heaven, Marie Rose Ferron continues to intercede in the lives of those who seek
her help. Favors have been granted and cures have been reported from all over the world. Many have also testified to an exquisite fragrance of roses emanating from objects associated with Rose. Mother Ferron once testified to the divine origin of these fragrances. "They are perfumes from heaven. You can be sure that when you have a fragrance, Rose is close to you, "she affirmed." In a homily given at the time of Rose's death, Rev. Norman Neunier, a local priest, made an astounding prediction: "You will have a little Saint in Woonsocket." Her devotees continue to pray for this recognition she so deserves.
Little Rose died before I was born but being a family member I knew Rose's sister Florida, and went to the chapel many times. Florida told me to lay my head on her pillow and I believe this is when my relation with Rose started. I remember several instances that she was with me and results that happened were because of her intercession with her Jesus. The most important were 3 instances in Viet Nam that occurred, where I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for her protection. After each of these instances, a heavy odor of flowers I smelled. I couldn't understand the smell, because I wasn't aware of this as being Rose's presence till I came back home and years later reading of this happening to others. For years I couldn't go to a wake at a funeral home because of the floral smell and flash backs to those incidences. I would go and pay respect, but leave immediately. One of those instances that doesn't have a lot of gory description was one night we were guarding a perimeter with a platoon of the 1st Calv, airborne brigade in a mountain region to have heavy enemy activity. Troops were brought in due to guerilla activity. That night it was my turn to stay awake. I can't express enough words to describe just how dark nights are under the jungle canopy except maybe to picture a cloudy sky..no stars, or moon and go into a closet with no lights on in your home. Try and see your hand! All that one has are his senses like sound, smell but no visual. That night I could hear a snap like a small branch that was barely audible but crisp in sound. It lasted the whole time I was on watch. I woke my relief and told him to pass it on and to wake me as the night slipped to dawn to wake me and everyone to be on high alert, that something was out there in front of us. I was the team leader (Sergeant) at the time, and would make the decisions whether to fire or not so as not to bring attention to ourselves prematurely. Day break came and we all were facing out front with weapons ready to fire for at least an hour. Nothing happened, so we started with our coffee making and C ration breakfast, leaving one man on guard. I was leaning against a small tree about 6" in diameter when 3 shots rang out. We all dove on our weapons in defense. Withing minutes a Lt. Thompson came hurriedly over to ask about the incident and I told him. He then asked me to go with him and search out front. He and I both cautiously moved out till we found what all that snapping noise was. This VC had snuck in during the night, cleared a bed on the ground, and broke off leaves to lay on so he'd be silent waiting for his move. After being convinced he was long gone, we went back to the others. Oh........this bed where he lay was no more than 60' from us! On the way back I noticed this tree I was leaning on had three bullet holes that went clean through! I walked over in disbelief and purposely put myself in the position I was in before the shots were fired, aligning myself with the position of where the shots came from (his bed) The holes lined up directly with my shoulder deltoid. There is NO WAY to come to any other conclusion that those bullets didn't go into me!!!!! They went through the tree, but not me. How can that be possible???? No deflection..one bullet slight off and lower than the other two, same direction and all went clean through! The tree was so small, that there was part of me to each side, so even a deflection would have hit me. I'll also mention that prior to leaving for Nam...my mom took me over to Rose's Chapel and Florida (Rose's sister) Put my name in a vase on Rose's alter that priest used when saying Mass and giving her Holy Communion. Other names of servicemen were also placed in the vase as well and whenever devotees came to pray and priest say Mass, intentions were for the safety of those names. No doubt in my mind, I was under the protection of Little Rose. I will post other instances later, of my experience with Rose, as well as favors she granted others that I prayed to her for that came out of their illnesses in the last few years. I will also post a link as to the person I know who has books on her life that you can obtain to get to know her better, so that she be in your corner in time of need as well.

Rev. O.A. Boyer, S.T.L. was the Spiritual Director of Little Rose and following her death was instrumental in writing her wonderful biography entitled: SHE WEARS A CROWN OF THORNS.
An excellent book to read with several testimonies of some cures and petitions granted through Little Rose's intercession with Jesus. There are many, many, people who have reported these cures and credits from her and just to many for my 2 finger typing on this site, but I will try to update this site often with information on little Rose.

The Catholic Church requires in depth investigations to see if a candidate is worthy of Sainthood, by first starting in the candidates own diocese, then on to the beatification of her cause in Rome. According to the diocese own words many investigation were completed over time. Sadly none were done as "impartial" but very biased instead!!! No family members were every sought for testimonies, not cures and favors received, were never investigated by the church to see if in fact, this Holy person was really investigated properly. To this day, every Bishop at the helm claims of having looked into her case but none seem to do a true and impartial investigation Little Rose deserved, when in fact...over 250 relatives and witness names and addresses were handed to them on a silver platter!!!! That could have easily been contacted for interviews IF there really were a true and complete investtigation.
I hope to shed light on this and to enlighten readers of the injustice, lies, and deceit that was done and STILL exist to this day to this Holy woman! To this day....the Church refuses to admit the wrongs they committed in what appears to be the dark past of the Providence diocese and Marrie Rose Ferron.
Proof of the foul play in one investigation is documented in a letter by Fr. McKitchen who was appointed official investigator on Dec. 1, 1959. For more than 1 year later, he STILL couldn't spell her name right!!! Some investigator!
He refused to accept the names and addresses of those who knew Rose and his reply was...."I shall see only those I want to see and no one else"! when asked why he wouldn't accept his reply was " I have been told I must not accept anything in Rose Ferron's favor" What an investigator, and WHAT an investigation!!! Not even Rose's own pastor from her own parish Msgr. Grenier was ever interviewed, yet the Bishops dare make the claim that an exhaustive investigation was made and each stand behind the others before them?
The first official investigator Msgr. Geoghagan had about 15 testimonies and those in favor to Rose, mysteriously disappeared from the Chancery files. Father McKitchum was making sure that NO testimony in favor of Little Rose would never enter the Chancery files. One has to ask....WHY? Since then, Bishops have said they "looked" into the case, but there are no known names appointed as official investigators since!

"Forgive them Father, for what they have done"
TESTIMONY #1: The moment "Little Rose" passed away, a friend of hers was suddenly cured. This friend was suffering for over two and a half years from constant hemorrhaging like the woman in the Gospel with "the issue of blood".(Matt. IX, 20-22)This lady had petitioned Rose for relief and made several novenas for that purpose. Finally, she made Rose promise that as soon as she reached heaven she would "touch the hem of Our Lord's garment" for her that she might be healed. When Rose passed away, the lady was suddenly cured, although she didn't know why, as she only found out about Rose's death on the following day. In good health thereafter, the lady's case was carefully examined and has all the marks of a second -class miracle. (Boyer, p.133)
I didn't know Father Boyer, but I did get to meet Father John Baptist Palm S.J. Father Palm dedicated his life for Rose's cause, and has hundreds of documents and reel to reel recordings of testimony of eye witnesses, the stigmata and cures received. His travels were many including China, and hundreds of cures reported there as well, and still continues today long after her death.
Father Baptist Palm S.J. was ordained to the priesthood for the archdiocese of Baltimore Washington in 1941 and was stationed at Our LADY OF Lourdes Church outside Washington D.D., until he entered the Society of Jesus in 1944. He went to China in 1948. He was stationed at Christ The King Church in Shanghai until his arrest in June. 1953. He was taken to the border of Hong Kong in July, and after hospitalization and rest, came to Taiwan where he was working in Hsinchu. In 1959 he was sent to the states to collect funds for the Arca Seminary for 2 ½ yrs, giving sermons and lectures in parishes around the U.S. (During this time is when I met Father Palm) During this time he met Father Gauthier in R.I.,and he introduced Father Palm to Little Rose. Ever since then he took tape recordings of all those he met who were acquainted with Marie Rose Ferron. He has been the chairman of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal committee in Taiwan. The Chinese Bishops appointed him as their liaison for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. The society of Jesus appointed him as promoter of the Charismatic Renewal in Taiwon. He sent volumes of recording, and transcribes to the Bishops of North America, as well as the Holy See.

Many have reported cures, but also a remarkable fragrances for no reason, or when praying to Rose. As in my case in Viet Nam, as well as here in Maine. Father Palm also mentions this in his memoirs and testimonies taken from people who were not related or associated with Rose. He also mentions he was given relics of Rose like a Crucifix she held when she died, and a rosary as well as clippings of her hair, clothing, and pieces of her coffin when they exhumed her years alter. These items he carried with him to China that have cured many while there, as well as astonished many, including pagans, and members of the clergy, and well as prayer meetings here in the U.S. These people have all become followers if Little Rose, as well as converts to Catholicism. Little Rose doesn't just work for Catholics, but non Catholics as well. All one has to do is believe, and be patient. Here are a few excerps from Father Palms memoirs:
During my first visit to R.I. in June 1948, I closely questioned Mrs. Ferron (Rose's mother) in an attempt to find out whether Rose had appeared to her. I felt sure that, since Rose had been appearing to many others, surely she would have come to visit her mother who had gone through so many years suffering at her bedside. But Mrs. Ferron would only smile at me and said "Rose told me that silence is golden" with a smile. When left Woonsocket, I never expected to see it again since I was on my way to Baltimore for a last visit before I headed back to Cina. However for 3 hours I was on the train from Providence to New York, I had the constant fragrance of a sort of rose-powder-perfume that seemed more spiritual than physical. There returned to my mind over and over again that I must return to R.I., before going to China. I did this the following month. I was surprised to learn that Mrs. Ferron knew this during my last visit that I would return. I was even more surprised when she spontaneously and simply told me how she knew. Her Daughter appeared to her and told me to give me her crucifix to bring with me to China. For 2 day's Mrs. Ferron search and could not find it. Rose came to her again and said "don't worry that I would return again before leaving to China". This crucifix is the one that Rose held for many years, and died with and when it was given to me, I smelled a strange odor, like a pleasant body odor, but with something added. Then they all smelt it, Mrs. Ferron and Flora (Florida). They never recalled that there had been an odor on it. The mother thought that it was the odor from the stigmata in Rose's hand. Flora had given me some relics, among which was the last of the rosaries Rose said she had blessed by her Jesus especially for her and which one day do a lot of good. This crucifix Flora detached from her rosary and attached it to the rosary. A few days later I was praying the rosary in a small private chapel of the University of San Francisco. I was suddenly distracted by the heavy odor of incense and mixed flowers, There were no flowers there and there was no Benediction that day. Then I found this fragrance flowing from the crucifix from my newly acquired rosary. Father Edward Fitzgerald, S.J., to whom I showed the rosary, also smelled the same fragrance. I washed the rosary with soap and water, and he did likewise, but the fragrance still persisted as strong as before. A few other Jesuit Fathers, and Regents also smelled this fragrance. Two other fellow passengers (on the ship to China) were (according to his passport and the word of the captain) His Royal Highness, Prince of Siam (first cousin to the King) and his wife. They also smelled the fragrance on both the crucifixes a number of times, a different fragrance on both of them. He read her life: "She wears a Crown of Thorns" and also the circular describing the recent favors. He told me that each time he opened this book or the circulars, a wave of fragrance came out. He first thought it could not be true, that it was his imagination but he said "he could not imagine this odor every time he opened the book or circulars". Being a Buddhist, he could not understand how God could love Rose and send her such terrible sufferings. Within a week, however, he learned he learned the secret of suffering. He had a splitting headache for a couple days. I asked him why he did not pray to Little Rose for a cure just as Mr. Cheng did. He told me in response that he did not want to ask her and that she suffered without seeking relief, and he would do likewise. He promised to translate her Novena to Siamese, if it hadn't been done already. He intended to pray to her if when he would be in need of her help for himself or his family. He also offered me an invitation to come to Siam to preach Catholicism, in case the communists drove me out of China, and he assured that I would be welcomed by his cousin the King.
